What you get back · Senior Backend Engineer, Series B fintech
Strong fit

Yes, you’d make the shortlist — with one question they’d want answered first.

Your backend experience is exactly what they’re looking for. But this role needs payments experience, and the only time your CV mentions it is a job you left in 2019. That’s the first thing they’ll ask about.

Where they’ll push back · 2 areas

  • Team size · Led 4, they want 10+Count the cross-team project you ran, 12 people through two leads, and say so in your first line.

An example of what you get back. Yours takes about 30 seconds. Then, included with a free account: tailor your resume line by line, practise the answer out loud with coaching on it, run a mock interview. First mock free, one coached answer a day free.

Features

Ready, confident, hired — in that order.

One tool for each decision you’ll face between the posting and the offer. You work on the few things that matter for this job instead of everything, so there is less to do and less to keep track of. Every output is built from your resume and the live posting.

Phase 01 · Should you apply?More interviews per application

Would you make the shortlist?

You find out whether you sit under this role's bar or over it, read from the whole posting against your resume: seniority, scope, and the skills they actually ask for. The points where a recruiter or hiring manager will push back on your profile come tagged major or minor, with the example to have ready for each. Then the company itself: how they build, what they pay, and the watch-outs, each with a way to work with it if you join and a question you can ask without sounding like an accusation.

Role match scoreWhere they'll push backCompany snapshotPay benchmark
Phase 02 · Will your resume pass?More interviews per application

Get past both screens.

Two things filter you out before a person reads a word: the software that parses your resume, and a recruiter skimming for seconds. You get a score for each, and the concrete edits that move them. Calibrate any bullet against the posting, see the rewrite before it lands, and export a template that parses cleanly.

Resume score · ATS + recruiterResume editTemplates
Phase 03 · Apply fasterMore interviews per application

Send it in minutes, not an evening.

The part that eats an evening takes minutes: a cover letter and ready-to-paste answers to the open-ended questions every form asks, drawn from your resume and their posting, and edited by you before it goes. Every job you scan then stays on a board with its stage, so you can see where each application stands without holding it in your head.

Cover letterApplication answersJob tracker
Phase 04 · Walk in readyMore offers per interview

Know what they will ask.

You walk in already knowing what they will ask. Their exact loop, taken a round at a time: how to approach that round, what its interviewers actually score, and the questions it asks ranked by how likely each one is. Paste what the recruiter sent and the round updates to match. Practise out loud and get coached on the answer, then run a full spoken mock and get an honest debrief. It tracks which rounds you are ready for and which still need work, and plans what your references should say. If a job ends in a rejection, paste the reason they gave. It becomes the weakness Calibrd works on at the next company.

Xiaochen Guo, founder of Calibrd

I watched brilliant people fail interviews they were made for.

Xiaochen Guo spent a decade on the hiring side — deciding which resumes got picked, who advanced, who got the offer. He built Calibrd so strong candidates stop losing to avoidable mistakes. It’s designed to get you hired, then let you go.

Calibrd is built for candidates to succeed. Your resume and your prep stay on your device, and the feedback stays honest even when honesty costs the sale.

Built for outcomes

The market’s brutal. Calibrd raises your odds at each stage.

Most applications end in silence, and interviews are often lost on things that have nothing to do with the job. Nobody can promise you the offer. What you control is how sharply each application is targeted and how well you perform in the room, and that is where every Calibrd tool points.

More interviews per application

Sharper targeting

The report reads the exact posting against your resume: your fit, your gaps, and the resume fixes that matter for this role. Stronger applications go out, and fewer disappear into silence.

More offers per interview

Real rehearsal

Predicted questions for their exact loop, coaching on every answer, and a spoken mock with an honest verdict. You walk in having already answered most of what they’ll ask.

Phase 04 · Walk in ready

Most prep tools grade you.
This one interviews you.

Every tool above gets you ready for this one. Calibrd runs a full voice round on the exact job you're chasing. It asks in a real voice, listens to your spoken answers, follows up like a real panel — then gives you an honest debrief: would they advance you, and the two things to fix.

  1. 01A whole round, not one prompt. Three or four questions with follow-ups — or one system-design problem dug into deeply.
  2. 02You speak; it listens. Answer out loud, transcribed as you go. No feedback mid-round — just like the real thing.
  3. 03An honest debrief. Would advance, borderline, or not yet — with strengths, fixes, and a question-by-question read.

I've tried quite a few job application tools, and this one stands out for being both practical and easy to use. It quickly identifies areas where my resume can be improved and helps me better align it with job requirements. The interview preparation suggestions are also relevant and genuinely useful. I rarely leave reviews, but this tool has honestly helped me. If you're currently looking for a job, I think it's definitely worth trying.

FAQ

Questions about your coach

Do I need the Chrome extension?
No. Everything runs in your browser workspace at calibrd.com — paste any job, no install, and you get the full report, every tool, and the voice mock interview. The extension is an optional add-on that reads LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever and Levels.fyi postings as you browse. Same account, same access.
How much does Calibrd cost?
Reports are free — three a day, fifteen a month. Everything else comes with a stretch of time: $9.99 for a week, $19.99 for 30 days, or $39.99 for 90 days. That covers unlimited reports, unlimited resume exports, and a set number of mock interviews — 5, 15 or 45. It isn't a subscription: it ends on its own, and you buy more only if the search is still going.
Can I run a full mock interview?
Yes — a full voice round with the AI as your interviewer. Pick one of seven rounds; it speaks, listens to your spoken answers, and follows up like a real panel. At the end: a clear verdict (would advance, borderline, not yet), strengths, fixes, and a question-by-question read. Your first mock is free. After that they come with any paid stretch — 5 on a week, 15 on a month, 45 on a 90-day search. Transcripts stay on your device.
Can I get a refund?
Yes. Email support@calibrd.com within 14 days and we'll refund your pass. Just tell us what went wrong so we can fix it — that's the one thing we ask, and you get the refund either way. If you're in the EU or UK, the law already gives you 14 days to change your mind on anything bought online, and nothing in our terms takes that away.
Is there a real person behind Calibrd?
Yes, and you can reach him. Calibrd was built by Xiaochen Guo, who spent a decade leading engineering — including at King and Microsoft Gaming — and logged over 500 interviews from the hiring side. Every paid pass includes questions he answers himself: one on a week, three on 30 days, six on 90 days. Ask about a round you have coming up, a gap you are not sure how to explain, or an offer you are weighing. The question is emailed straight to him and never stored.
Does Calibrd store my resume?
No. Your resume stays local on your device. It's sent over HTTPS during report generation only — never persisted server-side, never used to train any model.
Can I just use ChatGPT for this?
You can — but it's constant prompting, and the output rarely fits your role, level and company without heavy steering. Calibrd reads the posting automatically, remembers your resume, and returns calibrated outputs with no prompt-writing. Full side-by-side comparison →
Which roles does Calibrd work for?
Your coach reads any JD, so nearly any tech role works. We've hand-tuned prep guides, comp and interview-pattern models for 32 roles from intern to VP across engineering, EM, data & ML, mobile, infra, product and solutions.
Is Calibrd available in French?
Yes — fully. Interface, report, cover letter, predicted questions, Resume Studio and the voice mock all run in French, with a one-click toggle. Voir Calibrd en français →
